Reiki sessions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing that supports the body’s natural processes of relaxation and balance. During a Reiki session, energy is offered through light touch or with the hands held just above the body.

Reiki can support your physical, emotional, and energetic well-being, and many people experience a deep sense of relaxation, warmth, calm, or simply a welcome feeling of slowing down.

People come to Reiki for many different reasons: to reduce stress, feel more grounded, or to find support during times of change and uncertainty.

yoyoReiki is rooted in Usui Shiki Ryoho, the traditional system of Reiki that traces back to its founder, Mikao Usui.

You don’t need to understand energy work, have any previous experience with Reiki, or arrive with a particular expectation. Curious is plenty.

What happens during a Reiki session?

The session begins with a conversation about how you’re feeling, what brings you to Reiki, and anything you would like to share. Then you relax, fully clothed, on the treatment table and receive Reiki through a series of gentle hand positions on the body.

There’s nothing you need to do and no need to talk—unless you want to. You may feel warmth, coolness, tingling, or a deep sense of relaxation. You may become very quiet or fall asleep. You may also feel nothing particular right away. Every session—and every person—is different.

About halfway through, you may be asked to turn over if that’s comfortable for you. After the session, we take a little time to reconnect and talk about your experience and anything either of us noticed.

Your main job? Relax.

How long is a session?

Choose a 60- or 90-minute Reiki session, plus a little time to talk before and after.

If 90 minutes sounds like a long time, start with 60. But don’t be surprised if you learn to love the longer session.

Once you’re deeply relaxed, 90 minutes can fly by.

Sound Healing or Marma Therapy may also be added to your Reiki session.

One session—or a series?

A single Reiki session can provide a welcome pause and an opportunity to relax deeply. If something specific brings you to Reiki, you may choose to come more often for a while, perhaps once a week. Others make Reiki part of their routine, coming every other week, once a month, or simply from time to time. There’s no set schedule. Find the rhythm that works for you.

Or, if you’d like to make Reiki your own practice, take a Reiki workshop and learn to practice on yourself.

What should I wear?

Whatever you’re comfortable relaxing in. You remain fully clothed throughout the session. A blanket is available, and you can choose gentle music, soothing sounds, or silence. Essential oils can also be diffused if you like.
